Song of the Day
Song of the Day is a blog dedicated to the introduction of new and great music that most people might miss due to main stream bias. As the web designer for this project my role was to incorporate the existing design into a new more modern style blog.
Song of the Day is a blog dedicated to the introduction of new and great music that most people might miss due to main stream bias. Originally started as a passion project by Owen Carver to share music that he discovered it has grown into a site that now in encourages its users to submit music or their own reviews. As the web designer for this project my role was to incorporate the existing design into a new more modern style blog. The site currently ranks rather high in organic search traffic and as such the site needs to be inviting to new users.
The overall goal of the design for the site was to make it responsive so that no matter the device a user could still get the same discovery experience. The site also needed to be able to display various embedded media types; YouTube, Vimeo, or SoundCloud, in a uniform manner. Song of the Day.co allow has a tiered membership system to allow for 3 different level of user submitted content. The design of the site has multiple places for advertising and newsletter sign-ups.
Song of the Day.co is built on the WordPress platform using a heavily customized theme and custom media post display. I worked on this project as a member of the All in Web Pro team.
